Class Offerings
We host an abundance of performance-training classes to enrich any dancer's base and boost any individual's self confidence. Class levels are based on ability.
The Pointe! Dance Studio of Classes include:
Beginner A & Beginner B
Beginner A is a combination class of Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical and/or African. This class is creative movement for dancer’s ages 2.5-8 years of age. This class is in stages and students may spend 1-5 years at this level.
Ballet
Ballet is the classical dance form that can be mastered by itself or used as a technical base or supplement to other dance forms. Classes focus on overall body alignment and awareness with emphasis on proper usage of feet and legs and execution of turnout. Beauty, flow and elegance are inherent in the elements of ballet.
Jazz Dance
An exciting and ever evolving dance form full of rhythm, syncopation, passion and life. Steeped in the rhythm of jazz music, a true American art form, jazz dance brings energy and life to all those who dance it. Classes explore body isolations of the head, shoulders, ribcage, feet and arms and encourage individual expression and the development of personal style.
Pointe
A technique which is the part of classical ballet that concerns pointe work, in which a ballet dancer supports all body weight on the tips of fully extended feet.
Modern Dance
A contemporary dance form that has its roots in ballet. It emphasizes the use of the floor for centering and grounding oneself in movement. The Horton Technique is strategically used in modern dance because it is dynamic and dramatic, develops both strength and flexibility, and works with an energy that is constantly in motion. The primary focus of many beginner-level Horton studies is creating length in the spine and hamstrings.
Tap
Classes emphasize the development and strengthening of basic tap technique and terminology highlighting the importance of rhythm and sound. Tap focuses on rhythms and intricate footwork, creating a percussion instrument out of the dancer’s feet.
Acrobatics
Acrobatics is a form that includes acrobatic movements. Acrobatic dancers include handstands, cartwheels, and handsprings into their dance routines. Acrobatics become dance techniques when the dancer adds rhythm in time to the music with true dance steps.
Hip-Hop
A high-energy class that uses the latest sounds in rap, R&B and pop music together with movements influenced by some of today’s hottest video choreographers. Hip hop encompasses movement that has elements of popping, locking, and breaking as well as freestyle movement to give students the opportunity to develop their own sense of style. Hip hop is urban, it’s street, it’s diverse and forever changing
Praise Dance
Praise and workshop through the medium of dance. The class will cover several different dance techniques. Classes are very high energy and prove to be an incredible workout for all levels.
